"Kesselball" is a game of golf played by two, three, four or five person teams, in which the scoring is converted to points. These points are then compared to a point quota which has been established for each player on the team in accordance with their level of skill. The team quota consists of the total of all quotas for the players.
In a tournament, the team coming closest to its quota or exceeding it the mostis declared the winner.
The 36 point base quota is the most common game, however there is a 54 point base quota for the higher handicap players. Points are earned as follows:
36 Point Game | 54 Point Game | |
---|---|---|
Double Bogey | 0 points | 1 point |
Bogey | 1 point | 2 points |
Par | 2 points | 3 points |
Birdie | 3 points | 4 points |
Eagle | 4 points | 5 points |
The point quota for a player who has an established handicap is determined by subtracting his handicap from 36 (which is the number of points that can be earned by having all pars for eighteen holes).
The KesselBall program is web-based, accessible with any device connected to the web, and administered by a designated person at your course. It pairs the players, prepares a "tournament summary" and creates scorecards for each team. The administrator can communicate with players in the tournament by entering notes that will print on the scorecard. The administrator can also assign starting order for the teams. Once a round is completed and the scores entered in the KesselBall system, each participant’s new quota is calculated and available. There is a lookup screen where any player at your course can find the scores and current quota for any player.
